Staffing makes the difference at any institution, and here at TDW our faculty is highly qualified, experienced, talented and enthusiastic. The highest educational standards are expected from all TDW faculty members. They are continually educating themselves through certification programs, teacher training schools, conferences and other learning opportunities, Every teacher at TDW is committed to sharing their love and passion for dance with their students and encourage each individual student to be the best they can be.

Director, Barbara Parren

Barbara is a native of the shore area and has owned and operated TDW for 30 years.Barbara is recognized as an outstanding teacher by Dance Educators of America and was highlghted in Dance Studio Life Magazine. Barbara’s students have won numerous awards and accolades and have traveled around the world. Alumni have majored in dance in higher institutions, performed professionally, and are sought out choreographers. Barbara studied under Charles Kelly, Frank Hatchett and Farnworth and Hauer. Barbara is certified with Dance Educators of America and a certified Pilates instructor.

Erin Pasko

Erin Pasko began her dance training in Wall, NJ at The Dancer’s Workshop where she was a national award-winning performer and competitor. In addition to her early dance training at TDW, Erin trained at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center in New York City under Neil Schwartz, Jared Jenkins, and many more. Erin was a New Jersey Nets Junior Dancer and moved on to dance on the nationally ranked Rutgers University Dance Team. She has performed in several of NYCs and LAs most popular dance shows including Carnival Choreographers Ball, Run The Night, Sybarite, and Rhapsodys Sirens After Dark. She is an assistant to professional NYC based choreographer Neil Schwartz and acclaimed Broadway producer Lisa Stevens. Most recently, Erin has danced for international pop artist Psy on The Today Show. Her choreography has been chosen from hundreds to be recognized and featured in the prestigious Capezio A.C.E. Awards and Project Creation Choreography. Erin is currently teaching and choreographing on both coasts and for international dance convention Broadway Bound International while pursuing a professional dance career under the representation of Clear Talent Group NY/LA.

Robin Lynch

Robin has over 19 years experience of dance instruction in presschool dance, ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics and musical theater. She has been certified through Dance Masters of America to teach ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics to all age groups. In addition to her initial dance training at TDW, Robin has trained at Broadway dance Center under Evie Lynn and Steps on Broadway in NYC, Giordana Dance Center and Ruth Page Dance Center in Chicago, and was a member of the NJ Tap Ensemble. Robin is co-artistic director and choreographer of Tis The Season and The Magic Garden Ballet. As a Registered Dietitian, Robin holds an AAS from Middlesex County College, BS and Internship from UMDNJ.

Melissa Conklin

An alumni to TDW, Melissa holds a masters degree from Fordham University in social work and received certification through Dance Masters of America. Melissa is a full time social worker in the Jackson School District, working with special education students. She is a seasoned performer and has been teaching dance for 20 years. Melissa is a certified Pilates instructor, and holds many awards for her dancing as well as her choreography.Melissa loves teaching and treats each child as an individual and strives to bring the best out in all her students.

Meghan Angello

Meghan is a New Jersey native. She studied dance intensively in NYC after her colligate years at LIU for Dance Studies/Movement Therapy. Her passion for on stage performance is captivating and has led her to perform most recently with the Radio City Rockettes in the Christmas Spectacular.

As a NYC based dancer and choreographer she has toured professionally, traveling around North America. She was lead choreographer for an upcoming international pop singer, and will be choreographing for her European Tour later this year. Meghan has taught professional workshops to inspiring dancers. She encourages the dancers to find the own “sunshine,” and it reflects when their confidence and techniques flourish. She holds education dear as she is a certified holistic health coach, 500hr Yoga instructor, and a NJ Certified Massage therapist.

Lauren Giacobbe

Lauren grew up training at The Dancers Workshop where she was a member of the Seacoast Dancers and became a faculty member her senior year of high school. From there she continued her dance training at the college level and attended Montclair State University earning a bachelors degree in fine arts-dance performance. There she studied and performed under many modern, jazz and ballet teachers and choreographers. She continued her education at Rutgers State University studying Dance Education, earning a Masters Degree and teaching certificate in NJ and NY. Lauren is a member of The National Dance Education Organization and Dance New Jersey. Lauren continues her dance education by attending dance professional seminars and teaching conventions.In addition to teaching at TDW, Lauren is also a dance educator at PS 315 in Brooklyn, NY where she shares her passion for dance with the elementary level students. There she organizes performances throughout the year, teaches general movement and dance technique to all of the students, and choreographs for the dance team.

Cheryl Demaree Janulis

Cheryl is an alumni of The Dancer’s Workshop, where she began her dance journey in a tap class at the age of 6. By the age of 10, she was traveling nationally, competing in jazz, tap, hip hop, and acrobatics. Cheryl assisted in teaching acrobatics classes when she was in high school and eventually choreographed for the Seacoast Dancers. She was chosen to dance for The Shore Cats, a semi-professional basketball team based out of Asbury Park, N.J.

Cheryl’s passion for teaching began at The Dancer’s Workshop and led her to pursue a career in elementary education. She attended Rowan University, graduating Cum Laude with a BA in Elementary Education. While at Rowan, Cheryl was a part of the dance team.

She has been teaching elementary school for 16 years. She was named Teacher of the Year for Neptune Township in 2015, and she was also inducted into the WRAT Teachers Who Rock that very same year. Cheryl loves all styles of dance but has a special passion for acrobatics. She continues to grow professionally by seeking out new techniques and strategies to foster student growth and build confidence.

Max Mauro

Max is currently attending Montclair State University as a TV production and Digital Media major. Through his years of dancing he has trained intensely in Tap and Hip Hop, working under the instruction of Deborah Mitchell, Karen Callaway Williams, Hilary Marie, Aaron Tolson, Derrick Grant & Carlos Cordova to name a few. Max has won numerous “Mr. Teen” titles from various regional dance competitions, as well as the national title of Mr. Teen Beyond the Stars. He is also a dancer in the New Jersey Tap Ensemble and interns with the Jersey Tap Festival. He just completed his first national tour with Adrenaline dance being apart of their production team as well as helping assist his tap mentor Nicholas Dinicolangelo. He keeps his love of dance alive by performing in shows throughout New York City, with his most recent performance being the Tap City Awards show.

Guest Faculty

Caitlin Quinn

Graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Dance with a concentration in performance and choreography from Goucher College, Baltimore, M.D. Quinn completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Temple University in Philadelphia, where she also served as a faculty member for four and a half years. She currently serves as faculty at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. She has gone on tour with ClancyWorks Dance Company, under the direction of Adrienne Clancy. In addition, she has worked with artists such as Ann Hutchinson Guest, founder of the Language of Dance Centre in London, Mino Nicolas the Executive Director of the Doris Humphrey Foundation, Ed Tyler, Tiffany Mills, Beverly Brown, Eva Gholson, Merin Soto and Nicole Canuso, as well as Amanda Thom Woodson, Juliet Forrest, and Glenna Blessing.

Norbert Reyes

Currently, Norbert is a professional dancer with CLEAR Talent Group NY and still a passionate member of the NJ and NYC dance community dancing as a devoted member of the Mooks. ?He is also a Movement Lifestyle Tour Scholarship Award recipient and a semi-finalist in the Monsters of Hip Hop 2013 Tour Show Cast. ?His credits include working with choreographers such as Victor Sho, Nico Beto O’Connor, Boyboi Tena, Ryan Davis, Dana Foglia, and Brian Nicholson. He has worked with up and coming artists such as Jeremy Fernandez and Karmella Daniel.

Marleen Melendez

Marleen Melendez started her dance training at the age of 11 at Dance Theatre of Jacksonville in NC. Growing up training in various styles from tap, jazz, contemporary, ballet and hip hop, she fell in love and knew that this was she was born to do. Eager to start her career, Marleen graduated high school a year early and moved to New York City to complete the Professional Semester Program at Broadway Dance Center. Since graduating from the program in 2012, Marleen has had the pleasure of working with various choreographers such as Candace Brown, Zach Lattimore, Nicco O’Connor, Jared Grimes, Brian and Scott Nicholson, Jared Jenkins, Neil Schwartz, and more. She has performed in the Soul Train Awards flashmob choreographed by Frank Gatson, and a Billboard Event for Grammy nominated Colombian artist, Fonseca. Marleen has also had the honor of being nominated three years in a row for the Monsters Of Hip Hop show by Parris Goebel, Kevin Maher and Marty Kudelka. Marleen continues to pursue her career goals in New York City with plans to move to Los Angeles.
